After the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami, and various aftershocks, in Japan earlier this year, the “Concert for Japan” was set up to help the homeless, orphans, children, elderly and others that resulted from that horrific incident.

To help the Japanese recover from this massive catastrophe, a globally broadcasted benefit concert is being held; the event will be broadcast on the social network site Facebook. It has also been stated that fans who happen to pass by Downsview Park in Toronto, Canada on September 3rd and 4th, 2011, will be able to catch this event live.

Featuring top acts from Canada, the U.S. and around the world, people can experience this global event all while helping those in need. The event will be a celebration of the Japanese culture and will feature performances from traditional Japanese drummers, top musicians and DJ’s. Amongst the scheduled performances are the Korean rock idol group, FT Island, who will be performing for the first time in Canada. Other groups to perform include Atomic Tom, Envy, Vas Vega, and Evaline.

To buy tickets, simply head on over here. Tickets for each individual day are priced at $75 and a two-day pass can be purchased for $130. There are also a limited amount of VIP tickets being sold per day; the VIP package includes entrance to a separate VIP parking area, fast-track admission with special entrance to the festival arena, exclusive access to a special VIP platform, a sheltered seating area, a four-course menu for both lunch and dinner, complimentary bottle of wine per table, access to a bar area, fast-track admission to a suspended bar, access to a “luxurious washroom”, and seat at a table for 10. One hundred percent of all net proceeds will be donated to various charities involved in the Japanese relief effort.

I am so tempted to go. Anyone else interested in going? Please comment and let me know.
